The OSIRIS-REx mission is a NASA spacecraft that was launched in September 2016 with the goal of studying and collecting samples from the near-Earth asteroid Bennu. The mission aims to help scientists better understand the formation of the solar system and the origins of life on Earth by studying the composition and structure of Bennu. The spacecraft is equipped with a suite of instruments to collect data on the asteroid, including a camera system, a spectrometer, and a laser altimeter. In October 2020, OSIRIS-REx successfully collected a sample of Bennu's surface, which is expected to return to Earth in 2023 for further analysis.
